Cherry Blossom Forecast Update
The Japan Weather Association has updated its forecast for cherry blossom viewing dates with a nice new map and more detailed information.
Even if you don’t know the kanji or Chinese characters for the place you’ll be, check out the convenient curvy lines that show the divisions.
The time is near, so if you are going to be in Japan and looking for something fun to do, grab a blanket or a “blue sheet” (a big plastic sheet that people can have their picnics over… cheap, easy to clean, and waterproof.
Make some nice onigiris (balls of rice filled with deliciousness, or just plain and lightly salted) or buy a “hanami” bento somewhere… if you are in the Kansai region, find a nearby takoyaki vender, then enjoy the festivities. If you find a busy park, don’t blame me if you spend as much time watching the drinking and wackiness around you as you do watching the pretty flowers!
