Firefox 3 Downloads Surpass the Million Mark in Japan
Slashdot.jp reports that during its first ten days of availability, Firefox 3 has been downloaded over one million times in Japan.
I downloaded it four times myself thank you very much.
This is big news because for all the technology that actually is accessible here, and the very technological image Japan has, you’d be surprised how many people have never heard of Firefox, let alone the glories of addons, open source, and even linux for that matter!
It’s kind of like cars. Cars are pretty big in Japan (popularity-wise), but most people don’t even know how to change a tire. I hope I’m not overly generalizing but I’ve asked around and it doesn’t seem like many people have done it or know how.
I’m trying to spread the word though because I’m definitely a fan of Firefox and it’s various plugins.
