The newest addition to the Nintendos “DS” portable video game line is scheduled to be released on February 26, 2011. It is currently set to be sold for 25,000 yen (currently about US$299). The price is comparable to the price of other DS consoles.
The general consensus on the Japanese internet bulletin boards (including 2CH) is that the price is a bit steep for the new features added. Many people are saying they don’t plan on buying one, but that was also the case with the DSi.
The Nintendo 3DS is designed to provide a 3D experience without requiring special glasses.
Like the regular Nintendo DS, there is a top screen and a lower screen. The top screen is designed for 3D images while the bottom screen remains the interactive touch screen.
The Nintendo 3DS also comes with two cameras set on the back to allow 3D photography! (See the photo below)
