Yes. The band is called Kis-My-Ft2 or Kis-My-FtII. It’s Johnny’s latest entry into the boy band market in Japan. Johnny’s is the entertainment company responsible for SMAP, TOKIO, Arashi, Kinki Kids, V6, Kat-Tun, and Hey! Say! JUMP. The newest venture tries to put the names of the members into some recognizable form (as was done with Kat-Tun)… and they come up with, yes, basically “Kiss My Feet 2”. The 2 part comes from a stretch to fit the name of member Nikaido… the Ni part of his name is of course 2. There was apparently a band called Kis-My-Ft released by Johnny’s in 2004, but I honestly had never heard of them.
The total list of members and the Kis-My-Ft2 inspiration are:
Ki = Kitayama, Hiromitsu whose member color is red.
s = Senga, Kento whose color is light blue.
M = Miyata, Toshiya whose color is purple.
y = Yokoo, Wataru whose color is orange.
F = Fujigaya, Taisuke whose color is pink.
t = Tamamori, Yuta whose color is yellow.
2 = Nikaido, Takashi whose color is green.
At worst they’ll throw out a few hit poppy singles and then show up in a few dramas.
People on the net are calling this group one of the least handsome of the Johnny’s groups that have come out, but please judge for yourself. One of their songs is already being used in commercials for online gaming site Dwango.
