Live Action Version of Moyasimon: Tales of Agriculture in the Works

I don’t know how popular Moyasimon is in the West, but it is another highly regarded manga/anime that Japan is planning to make into a live action movie.

It’s starting to seem like Japanese filmmakers are trying to beat American film makers to the punch. Astro Boy came out in 2009, and there was also a Hollywood version of Speed Racer just to name two. They’ve also been busy in Japan making a live action version of Space Battleship Yamato, and the upcoming Tomorrow’s Joe live action movie.

Japan’s latest entry is Moyasimon: Tales of Agriculture and stars Nishida of the manzai team “Waraimeshi” who just happens to look exactly like Kaoru Misato, one of the main characters in the story.

For those of you unfamiliar, the story follows the adventures of a first year college student at an agricultural university. The student’s name is Tadayasu Sawaki, and he happens to be able to talk to microorganisms.
