Many Japanese news media outlets are reporting that Ai Kago (age 23), formerly of Morning Musume attempted to commit suicide on September 11th. She was found in her apartment in Roppongi in Tokyo by a member of her talent agency. The agency member then immediately called 119 (the equivalent in Japan to 911) for an ambluance.
Reports say she was nearly unconscious due to an overdose of pills. There were also cuts found on her wrists.
Earlier this week, on the 6th, Ai Kago’s live in boyfriend, a 44 year old businessman was taken into custody for suspected ties to organized crime. She was at home with him at the time but did not mention it on her blog.
She hasn’t written on her Twitter account (Ai Kago @lovbus) since September 5th, the day before her boyfriend was arrested. Her last entry on her official blog (Ai Kago Official Blog) was on September 7th in which she does not mention her troubles, but simply writes about how much fun playing the piano is.
The latest news is that she has thanked her fans for their support and said that once her partner is released they will continue to do their best together.
Needless to say there are a lot of incredulous fans out there wondering why she won’t get herself away from this guy…
