In the what happens where you live happens where we live category, a 23 year old female teacher at a prefectural high school in Saitama was caught in the act of having sex with an 11th grade male student. The teacher was at the school as a temporary substitute. The teacher had been communicating with the student by phone and text since September of 2010 and indecent acts occurred on at least two occasions during that year.
The affair was discovered when the student told a friend about the incident, and the friend acted up during class. The pair were sent for discipline and ended up telling all to the vice principal at the school.
In an unrelated incident, a 32 year old male teacher at another school in the prefecture was arrested for paying a high school student for sex.
Both teachers were dismissed from their positions as punishment for the offenses.
This stuff happens everywhere… except everyone knows a Japanese PE teacher who has married a student, but ‘they started dating after she graduated’. Sure they did.
I know one PE teacher who lost his wood on the second go ’round at a soapland because the girl asked him, “先生どうでしたか?”. She was a graduate, but still…
Indecent? I usually find sex to be very decent. Why is sex an indecent act?
Mr. S – In my early teaching days, I was in two different junior high schools in which teachers were arrested for this kind of thing… but actually they were arrested for stalking and terroristic threats after the teacher and student “broke up”. The scary thing are how often things happen that get buried by the school… including things that happen between students.
George – Good point. Maybe my description above gives the acts a bad name while the acts just are what they are.
